History

It is said that Chenggong Zheng, the Prince of Yanping, crossed the sea to Taiwan 350 years ago. Heading north to vanquish the Dutch, he passed through the southwest corner of Zhonglu Village, which is now a part of  the redeveloped area, and planted a tree named "Jiu Qiong." This is the origin of "Jiu Qiong Gong '' in Luzhou Township.

When the school was set up, Songping Tseng, the former principal of Lujiang Elementary School, was in charge and named the school “Chenggong” after careful consideration with local gentry.

After approval from the county government, on July 8th, 1988, the school was officially named "Taipei County Luzhou Township Chenggong Elementary School.''

On October 6th, 1997, since Luzhou was upgraded to a city, the school was renamed as "Taipei County Luzhou City Chenggong Elementary School."

On December 25th, 2010, "New Taipei City Luzhou District Chenggong Elementary School." was assigned as the new name after Taipei County was upgraded to New Taipei City.

Now, the school proudly carries the name "Chenggong Elementary School" in honor of the historical figure Chenggong Zheng and its roots in the local community.
